MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

“There is something good that you feel that no amount of money can buy”, says one of several volunteer doctors and dentists from the Beta Sigma Fraternity – Manila East Chapter, when asked why he opted to render his services for free when he should be making money in his clinic instead.

It was mission accomplished for the National Federation of Gamefowl Breeders which conducted a Medical Mission last Sunday, November 22 at the San mateo Cockpit in San Mateo, Rizal wherein more than a thousand patients – affected by the double typhoon that hit the country recently.

Unilab thru Thunderbird donated medicines in addition to what NFGB has purchased and also invited the Beta Sigma – Manila East Chapter who are known for conducting medical missions almost on a weekly basis.

I personally sought the help of the Betans who have worked with me and my group in two medical missions before, thru the coordination of my good friend Dr. Rex Iwuanyanwu.

The project was also assisted by other companies in the gamefowl feeds and vet industry which donated breakfast, soup kitchen and merienda during the event.

WHO WILL BE THIS YEAR’S BAKBAKAN CHAMP

Will it be Masbate’s pride newspaper executive Rey Briones or the tandem of Generals Acop & Suvia or Charlie Carlos of Marikina or Atty. Darwin Asuncion or Dennis Buison or the duo of Gov. Edgar Ong & Ed Fontanilla or how about the brothers Ricoy Palmares & Jesry Palmares who all have unblemished scores of 6 wins out of 6 matches coming into the grand finals set on Thursday, December 3 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Considering the magnitude of the 2009 Bakbakan, with a guaranteed cash prize of P30 million and a record-breaking field of 2,413 entries, this year’s Bakbakan championship has become doubly prestigious.

Defending champions are Jun Pe of Zamboanga City and John Daguio of Batac- Ilocos Norte who brought to the United Gamefowl Breeders Association its third championship and made it the first ever recipient of the Bakbakan Hall-of-Fame Award.

The two-year old Rizal Gamefowl Breeders Association is well on its way to capture its first Bakbakan crown with 6 grand finalists form their group gunning for the top honors.

“Baka sakaling makuha na ngayon”, says RGBA President Joey Sy.
